LCJHS Assessments

LCHS students take the NWEA reading, language, and math tests in the fall and spring from 7th grade through 10th grade. Juniors take the fall NWEA but not the spring. These tests are useful for internal diagnostics, placements, and allocation of services. Since students take the NWEA in grade school as well at LCS, it provides significant longitudinal data that helps us assess programs, curriculum changes, and a host of other issues.

Fall testing (Grades 7–11) occurs during the first two block-weeks (September).
Winter testing (select students) occurs during the first two weeks of January after break.
Spring testing (Grades 7–10) occurs during the last two block-weeks (April and May).

CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) is state required testing that occurs in the Spring semester of each year. 7th grade students test in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and sometimes Social Studies. 8th grade students test in ELA, Mathematics, and Science.

All testing occurs in April. Any students who miss a test session complete make-up testing by the end of April. The Assessment Coordinator will reach out to students regarding make-up testing.
