Assessments

LCHS students take the NWEA reading, language, and math tests in the fall and spring from 9th grade through 10th grade. Juniors take the fall NWEA but not the spring. These tests are useful for internal diagnostics, placements, and allocation of services. Since students take the NWEA in grade school as well at LCS, it provides significant longitudinal data that helps us assess programs, curriculum changes, and a host of other issues.

Fall testing (Grades 9–11) occurs during the first two block-weeks (September). 
Winter testing (select students) occurs during the first two weeks of January after break.
Spring testing (Grades 9–10) occurs during the last two block-weeks (April and May).

10th graders will take the Classic Learning Test on Tuesday, 7 October 2025. Students can begin checking in to their testing rooms at 7:30AM with testing beginning at 7:45AM. There is no pre-administration for this assessment.

Students should leave all technology (calculators, cell phones, smart watches, etc.) in their lockers. Snacks and drinks are allowed in the room, away from desks and testing materials, for access during breaks. Students will not be allowed to go to their lockers once testing begins.

Students taking the CLT 10 can answer optional questions at the beginning of the assessment, if they wish to do so they should bring the consent form, signed by a parent, to their testing room.

The CLT 10 consists of three sections: Verbal Reasoning, Grammar & Writing, and Quantitative Reasoning. This assessment is about 2 hours long. Students will resume their normal class schedule once testing has concluded. 

11th graders will take the PSAT/NMSQT on Tuesday, 7 October 2025. Students will begin checking in to the Colosseum at 7:30AM with testing beginning at 7:45AM. 

Students are allowed to bring an approved calculator to the testing room. Important to note, students are no longer allowed to use calculators with CAS functionality for tests within the SAT Suite of Assessments, including the PSAT/NMSQT. All other technology (cell phones, smart watches, etc.) should be in lockers. Snacks and drinks are allowed in the hallway outside of the testing room for access during breaks. Students will not be allowed to go to their lockers once testing begins.

The digital PSAT/NMSQT will consist of two sections: Reading & Writing and Math. This assessment is 2 hours 15 minutes long. Students will resume their normal class schedule once testing has concluded.

Students should attend a Student Readiness Checks on Tuesday 23 September 2025 at 7:00am or during 9th-hour in the Great Hall. Students only need to attend once. Those who have afternoon activities should expect to attend the 7:00AM digital readiness check. Students will have the chance to double check their registration details, agree to the terms and conditions of taking the PSAT/NMSQT, and answer optional questions about their interests. If students would like to fill out the optional questionnaire and opt-in to Connections, they should bring their PSAT 2025 Consent Form to their Digital Readiness Check. Please reach out to Mrs. MacKenna if you are not able to attend one of these sessions.

CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) is state required testing that occurs in the Spring semester of each year. 11th grade students test in Science. 

All testing occurs in April. Any students who miss a test session complete make-up testing by the end of April. The Assessment Coordinator will reach out to students regarding make-up testing.
