Kindergarten Enrollment

To enroll for kindergarten at Liberty Common School, families must participate in the school’s lottery system.

Throughout the year, you can submit an application to place your child into the kindergarten lottery pool using the school’s online form.  All eligible applicants for a given enrollment year are entered into a randomized, blind draw process, meaning every student has an equal chance of being selected regardless of when the application was submitted.

Lottery drawings for kindergarten typically begin in October. If your child is selected through the draw, you will be contacted with next steps for enrollment.

No.  All-day kindergarten is free to families in Poudre School District.

Liberty Common School does not participate in the state's universal-preschool program and does not offer an option for preschool.

Liberty Common School offers both full-time and half-time kindergarten. The Core Knowledge Curriculum for kindergarten is designed as a half-time curriculum acknowledging full-time kindergarten is not an academic necessity.  To ensure parity between half-time and full-time academic preparation for first grade, the full-time program is designed to be:

• 50% academics and skill instruction/development; and,

• 50% enrichment, skills practice to reduce homework, and supervised playtime.

Enrollment in half-time and full-time kindergarten programs is by lottery.  Half-time kindergartners will attend school full days on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday and a half day on Fridays.

Liberty Common Elementary School enrollment-offerings occur at two campuses – Plato Campus (1725 Sharp Point Dr.) and Aristotle Campus (2130 West Horsetooth Road). When a child’s name is drawn from the school’s single lottery, the child will be offered a seat at one of the two campuses based on the family's indicated campus choice. A family’s campus choice will be accommodated if an appropriate grade-level seat is available at that campus. 

In order to be eligible for enrollment openings at both elementary campuses, when completing the lottery form a family must answer “yes” indicating their willingness to accept placement at the other campus.  

The school makes all efforts to enroll siblings at the same campus based upon available seats; however, the school cannot guarantee the availability of open seats at a family’s campus choice, even for siblings. If a family declines an open seat, their child may remain on the lottery for future lottery draws, if desired. 

Enrollment at Liberty Common School is open to all students living in Colorado.  Lottery preference is given to students residing in the Poudre School District.
