Absence Procedures:
If your child is ill or will be arriving late at school, kindly call the Student-Attendance Line before 8:15 AM.  If a telephone call is not received by 8:15 AM, an automated call and email will be sent to parents/guardians.

Please leave a brief message including the child’s name and reason for the absence. If requesting a child’s makeup work, email the teacher directly.  Make-up work will be available after 3:00 PM in the Front Office.

Extended Absences
Pre-arranged Absence Forms are available upon request from the Front Office.  Please use this form when you know your child will be absent for more than two days.  Turn in the signed document at least one week prior to the arranged absence. Refer to the Student/Parent Handbook for specific guidance on making arrangements with the child’s teacher for completing make-up work.

Early Check-Out Procedure
When your child needs to leave school early for a medical appointment or other activity, please phone the Front Office a few minutes before you arrive and we will call your student to the Front Office. You will need to come into the office to sign out your child.  If your child returns to school after the appointment or activity, you must accompany the child back to the Front Office and sign them in.

Tardy Policy
Tardiness is a form of absence and interferes with student learning.  Late arrivals interrupt the learning environment and the daily procedures and will be handled in a serious manner.  The bell rings promptly at 8:00 AM and the student academic day begins.

Students who arrive after the bell rings are considered tardy and must be checked in at the front desk by a parent or guardian.  After five tardies in a quarter, students in grades four through six will serve a lunch detention.  Every tardy until nine will also result in a lunch detention for that quarter.  The tenth tardy will result in an after-school detention held from 3:00 - 4:00 PM.  Parents will be given warning emails and will be notified if a student reaches five tardies.  This policy will reset each quarter giving students and parents an opportunity to improve.
