Standalone Junior High

Standalone Junior High
Kathleen Kearney, LCJHS Principal

Liberty Common Junior High School students are thriving in their brand-new, standalone junior-high campus.

After years of preparation (yes, you read that correctly – years), we were so excited to open our doors officially at Liberty Common Junior High School for the 2025-2026 school year.

It’s been a wonderful journey, culminating this month.

Construction, spearheaded by Neenan Archistruction, was completed on Tue 5 AUG 2025, a few days ahead of schedule.  A huge "thanks" to the Neenan team for collaborating, designing, and constructing this amazing building together with the Liberty Common team over the past few years.

The school received the keys and certificate of occupancy on Fri 8 AUG 2025 which was also move-in day.  Many of the classroom and common-space items were donated by generous businesses and individuals in the community.  The remainder of the furniture we needed was delivered and installed that same week.

End of summer bash

LCJHS students set a new record by attending The Purple Duck’s End-of-Summer Bash on Fri 15 AUG 2025 – the most junior-high students to ever attend a student-life event since Liberty Common started enrolling seventh and eighth graders many years ago.  Students received Order t-shirts, met Order Deans, and kicked off the year in style as they enjoyed carnival games and two giant inflatables on Everett Field – not to mention the delicious hot dogs grilled by Mr. John Parsons, griller extraordinaire.

Junior-high orientation took place the evening of Wed 20 AUG 2025. Again, a record number of students and families attended and learned about both big-picture items and the day-to-day details to start the school year well.  Junior-high teachers did a spectacular job presenting important information to our school community in addition to getting classrooms and lesson plans ready in such a short period of time.  I couldn’t be prouder of the LCJHS faculty and staff.  Although I am most certainly biased, I truly believe we have the best teachers and staff members on the planet here at LCS.

Last week culminated with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the school’s newest campus on Fri 22 AUG 2025, after a reverse Torch Trek which began at the high-school campus and ended at the new building.  Seventh- and eighth-grade students were escorted by their high-school student leaders, exemplifying the mentorship our oldest LCS students provide to their younger peers despite no longer sharing a building.  The entire school community came together for a beautiful and meaningful ceremony and enjoyed an evening together filled with fun, food, laughter, and – yes – even circus performers.

LCJHS students began school on Mon 25 AUG 2025. The joy and excitement in hallways and classrooms, this week, has been palpable.  The school year is off to an thrilling start and all LCJHS staff cannot wait to continue to partner with parents to educate children well and do our best to incline them towards truth, beauty, goodness, and perfection.

Thank you to the multitude of teachers, staff members, students, parents, siblings, grandparents, founders, and community members who donated time, money, energy, items, and more to help us launch Liberty Common Junior High  School.
