Reflecting on a Remarkable Year

Reflecting on a Remarkable Year
Casey Churchill, Elementary Principal
As the 2025–2026 school year comes to a close, we celebrate our fourth year at the Aristotle Campus with a deep sense of pride and accomplishment.  This year has been marked by continued strong academic achievement and meaningful growth for students.

The Liberty Board of Directors and administration are incredibly grateful for the dedication and partnership of our students, teachers, support staff, and families.  Together, we made this a truly successful year.

Liberty Common School continues to stand out as a premier school in northern Colorado because of the powerful partnership between engaged parents, committed professional staff, and hardworking students.  We are especially thankful to the families who have chosen Liberty for its academic rigor and unique culture.  Behind the scenes, our front-office and custodial teams have worked tirelessly to ensure our building is welcoming and ready each day.  With approximately 420 students this year and projected enrollment of around 450 next year, it has been exciting to watch our Aristotle Campus grow and thrive.

Liberty remains a model for what a school can and should be.  By providing families with the freedom to choose a content-rich, academically focused education, our community has embraced and supported a vision continuing to deliver outstanding results.  We have witnessed impressive academic growth this year rooted in a steadfast commitment to rigor and the Core Knowledge curriculum.  When we focus on academic excellence, the results follow, and this year was no exception.

Our teachers have shown remarkable dedication to deepening their expertise in Core Knowledge and delivering engaging, coherent instruction.  Classrooms and hallways reflect this vibrant learning filled with student work that showcases both knowledge and creativity.  Our Mos Maiorum teachers play a vital role in connecting disciplines helping students see the relationships between subjects.  For example, while 4th graders study the Middle Ages, they also explore cathedral architecture in art and Gregorian chant in music, reinforcing a cohesive and meaningful learning experience.

This year, Liberty welcomed numerous visitors from across the country who are eager to learn from our model of schoolwide collaboration.  Each year, we were honored to host visitors from all over the U.S.  Educators are curious as to what we are doing here at Liberty.  Our school continues to serve as a model for others seeking to implement a high-quality, sequenced education.

Our teachers also strengthened their use of data to guide instruction.  Grade-level teams from both campuses met regularly to align curriculum, analyze student progress, and plan instruction.  This collaboration ensures consistency across campuses and reinforces our identity as one unified school.  Our Academic Support Team, alongside classroom teachers, has worked diligently to refine systems that support all learners.  Through thoughtful analysis and targeted interventions, we continue to close achievement gaps and ensure every student has access to our comprehensive curriculum.

One of the most exciting milestones last year was the purchase of our building.  This investment allows us to continue improving and expanding our campus.  Over the summer, we will be making several upgrades, including a new staff bathroom, an expanded maintenance office to store cleaning equipment, and improving the stage.  We will also enhance the front of the building by planting shrubs and expanding the front entrance drop-off and pick-up.  These improvements will make our campus even more welcoming and functional for staff, students, and families.  We look forward to unveiling these changes when everyone returns in the fall.

Liberty’s focus remains clear:  We provide a strong, accelerated foundation of knowledge, building vocabulary, strengthening literacy, and fostering thoughtful, informed citizens.  Through this mission, we are preparing students not only for academic success but for meaningful participation in a democratic society.  Liberty Common elementary school continues to stay true to this purpose and we are excited for what lies ahead.
