Eagles for Eagles

Athletics is a critical part of the moral development of young scholars. Students are taught the Capstone Virtues in class and put to the test on the athletic field. Students display fortitude as they put countless hours of practice into their sport, only for the opportunity to compete with no guarantee of outcome. Students must also display prudence after a loss and learn from their mistakes as they seek to better themselves. Through these lessons, students understand the importance of virtue in victory—victory of joy. In an effort to provide more opportunity for Liberty Common scholar athletes, the athletic department is proud to present the first-ever Eagles for Eagles Golf Outing. Eagles for Eagles is a fundraiser to support athletics programs, helping to provide resources and opportunities to enrich the experience of the student body. 

 

As a charter school, LCS allocates funds toward facilities neighborhood public schools typically receive through district and taxpayer support. While our Board of Directors ensures the athletic department is well funded and operates at a high level, we occasionally need to prioritize essential resources over extra enhancements. The Eagles for Eagles Golf Outing levels the inherent imbalance of a charter vs. neighborhood school. With the funds generated from this event, sending the swim team to southern Colorado for an overnight meet to face better competition, or sending the volleyball team to a tournament out of state are no longer out of reach. Dressing teams in proper warm-ups to represent our school is not a burden to parents. In the long term, this event can help fund facility improvements.

 

Eagles for Eagles is not just about raising funds, it is about showing what is possible for LCS students. Together, we can provide a lasting experience for scholar-athletes and help drive home the moral virtue found in athletics.  

 

This event will bring together the LCS community for a fun day at the beautiful Ptarmigan Golf Course. Participants will enjoy a full round of golf, on-course competitions, and the opportunity to meet coaches and fellow supporters of LCS athletics.

 

The school provides many opportunities for the community to gather, but this is the first big gathering dedicated to athletics. Whether you are new to the game or a seasoned veteran, we would love to have you there.

Several local companies have stepped up to sponsor this event and we are still looking for more.
