Building Liberty’s Future Together

Building Liberty’s Future Together
Patrick Albright, Board of Directors President

On behalf of the Liberty Common School Board of Directors, welcome all to the 2025-2026 school year.  The Board is excited to see new students and returning students and are especially excited to have accomplished the next phase of Liberty Common’s expansion:  The opening of the new junior-high campus.

So much work has gone into making the dedicated junior-high school a reality.  The school's financial team, led by LCS Director of Finance Mrs. Noelle Currell, secured bond sales needed to purchase and renovate the junior-high campus in addition to acquiring the Aristotle campus outright.  The Building Corporation, chaired by Mr. Peter Kast, acquired the properties on Sharp Point Drive and successfully worked to get all approvals needed from the City of Fort Collins to begin construction.  LCS junior-high Principal Kathleen Kearney led the effort to staff up the campus and make certain everything was in place to begin delivering the school's excellent curriculum to students on opening day.  The Board of Directors expresses its gratitude to everyone who worked so hard to make this a reality.

Starting next week, and running through to the start of the next school year, construction enters Phase 2 of our junior-high-school expansion.  Renovations are beginning on southern half of the building at 1825 Sharp Point, and work will soon commence on the Loggia, gymnasium, cafeteria, and passages that will connect the two wings of the building.  Work has already begun on the headquarters to house the school's operations staff.  The entire school community looks forward to seeing this construction completed in time for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Board also welcomes its two newest members, Mrs. Hannah Ebben and Mrs. Michelle Duncan.  Regular meetings of the Liberty Common School Board are generally held on the last Thursday of each month at the Aristotle campus.  Parents are encouraged to attend.  Composed entirely of parent volunteers, the Board relies on families to dedicate time and expertise to sustain the school’s success.  Parent involvement is essential, whether through service on committees such as the Financial-Advisory Committee, the Advancement Committee, and the Parent-Education Committee, or by volunteering at regular school events.  Opportunities abound to contribute—from helping at Grandparent’s Day, Fall Festival, and Winter Carnival, to assisting with traffic direction on campus.  The continued strength of Liberty Common School depends upon this shared commitment to volunteerism.
