Awakened and Enlightened

Awakened and Enlightened
Sandy Stoltzfus, Elementary Principal

Liberty Common students returned to school with minds prepared to be awakened and enlightened.  They have embarked upon another year of joy and wonder.

The faculty and staff are well prepared to lead these young scholars with excellence on the next leg of their journeys of intellectual and moral formation.

It is an honor to be on this journey pro permanentibus (for what lasts) with esteemed parents.

Parents lead the way at Liberty Common School, and the school continues to stand on the principle of parental rights and the universal truth in education – it is the right and responsibility of parents to direct the education and upbringing of their children.

The new standalone junior high next door marks an exciting time of growth for the entire k–12 school.

Just as children experience growing pains, the Plato Campus is also adjusting to growth. Reduced parking and changes to end-of-day pick-up routines are part of this transition. The systematic release of students is safer, more secure, and will continue to become more efficient as everyone becomes familiar with the process.

Gratitude is extended to parents who show grace, express appreciation, and offer solutions. The entire school is in this together pro permanentibus (for what lasts).  Virtue is on display by both students and parents during this time of growth and transition.

The new school year could not begin without acknowledging hardworking and dedicated administrative and custodial staff members. While many enjoyed the important leisure of rest and recreation over the summer, the committed summer staff labored diligently to ensure a pristine facility and a strong operational start to the year.

Special thanks to Mr. Jay Montez, Mr. John Lloyd, Mr. Cole Greenacre (Class of '26), and Mr. Samuel Johnson (Class of '27). Additional gratitude is due to Mrs. Melissa Miller, Mrs. Julie Russell, Mrs. Carrie Voggesser, Andrew Harper, and Mrs. Jenna Allen.

Finally, it is always appropriate to extend gratitude and admiration to the school’s founders whose vision established the impetus for uniting each year around the single enduring mission, “…to provide excellence and fairness in education for school children through a common foundation by successfully teaching a contextual body of organized knowledge, the skills of learning including the Thinking Framework, and the values of a democratic society…”

As we embark upon another remarkable year, I am exceedingly grateful to be on mission with passionate parents and committed professional teachers and staff.

Welcome back.

Warmest regards,

Sandy Stoltzfus, Principal (Plato Campus)
