STATE STANDARDS

Standard 3.1 Students know and understand the characteristics of living things, the diversity of life, and how living things interact with each other and with their environment.

Standard 3.2 Students know and understand interrelationships of matter and energy in living systems.

Standard 6 Students understand that science involves a particular way of knowing and understand common connections among scientific disciplines.

HABITS OF MIND

I.B View science and technology thoughtfully, being neither categorically antagonistic nor uncritically positive.

II.A Use ratios and proportions, including constant rates, in appropriate problems.

II.E Compare data for two groups by representing their averages and spreads graphically.

IV.F Participate in group discussions on scientific topics by restating or summarizing accurately what others have said, asking for clarification or elaboration, and expressing alternative positions.

V.B Check graphs to see that they do not misrepresent results by using inappropriate scales or by failing to specify the axes clearly.
